Tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Prime Location 2nd row!!! Beautiful beach views from the deck!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
