Tips to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Prime Location 2nd row!!! Beautiful beach views from the deck!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
