Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Prime Location 2nd row!!! Beautiful beach views from the deck!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern attraction you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
