Finding the best New Bern rental experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at New Bern restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation home in Emerald Isle:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Prime Location 2nd row!!! Beautiful beach views from the deck!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
