Booking the best vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Select dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Prime Location 2nd row!!! Beautiful beach views from the deck!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
