Tricks and tips to get the optimal New Bern vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- To book the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- To start, have your group choose trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. The Cozy Bear Bungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you crave, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
