Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Pebble Beach C-303, Almost Oceanfront 3BR 2BA has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
