Tips to get the perfect New Bern rental home experience:

When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect rental home in New Bern:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Amazing 3 BR House \/ Downtown New Bern \/ Sleeps 8 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
