How to get the best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Booking your New Bern vacation home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in New Bern:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. WATER FRONT! Marina
Family friendly, Complimentary Pool Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search. - Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
