Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Exceptionally Clean 3Br\/3Ba Oceanfront Condo in the Heart of the Crystal Coast has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
