Emerald Isle rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Reserve your New Bern rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanview, poolside, 2BR\/2B condo sleeps 6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
