Tips to get the best New Bern rental home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Oceanside Condo with family friendly amenities! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
