Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting and booking your prefect New Bern rental:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Townhouse, The NEW G-5 completely remodeled Spring 2019! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
