Tricks and tips for getting the best Pine Knoll Shores vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your New Bern rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Townhouse, The NEW G-5 completely remodeled Spring 2019! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you crave, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
