Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 6 Br, 4 Bath Townhome With Community Pool At End Of B Driveway has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is best for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain New Bern destination you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.

  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
