Our top New Bern rental home tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • In the New Bern area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best vacation home in the New Bern area:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Ocean Reef 17-B2 - Almost Oceanfront 2BR 2BA - Complex Amenities has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
