Tricks and tips to get the perfect Atlantic Beach rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Book your New Bern rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Relax and enjoy the beach. 4bed/5bath, ocean view, bright, steps to the beach. has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain New Bern beach you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
