Tips and Tricks to get the perfect New Bern rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best rental:
- First, have your group select trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Near Oceanfront Condo at Tar Landing Villas - Adjacent to Ft Macon State Park has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
