Tricks and tips for getting the best New Bern rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. SeaSpray 124, Oceanside Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
