How to find the best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking a perfect New Bern rental:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT! NEW listing! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- If there's a certain New Bern destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
