Strategies to get the best Emerald Isle rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Mother-in-Law Suite Upon Request! 0.4 mile walk to the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain New Bern attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
