New Bern vacation rental booking tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Wine Down: 4BR, 3.5BA, Almost Oceanfront, Private Pool, Game Room! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Tips for a smooth stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
