Tricks and tips for getting the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best New Bern rental:

  • To start, have your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Mamas Lookout- Luxury 2 BR Condo\/Close to the beach and pool! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
