Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect New Bern rental home:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, First-Floor Condo with Lovely View, Balconies, WiFi & Shared Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you love, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
