Cute bungalow on Moore Street in the Historic District of Beaufort located directly across the street from Homer Smith Docks and Marina. Such a peaceful and striking location for you to relax. View Town Creek and Newport River from the front porch. Walk 3 1/2 blocks to Front Street and view the ponies on Taylor's Creek. Everything Beaufort has to offer in the Historic and Restaurant District is within short walking distances.

There are multiple businesses that rent kayaks close by. There are also inexpensive ferry boat rides to Cape Lookout and Bird Shoals. Finally, I am a USCG licensed Captain, and am certified to take paying passengers on charters on my boat(s). However, I highly recommend the inexpensive ferry boat rides that depart from downtown Beaufort, unless you have a specific reason in mind…

The bungalow has new paint and carpet throughout, with plenty of brand-new beds and furnishings. On the other hand, it's rather cozy with some pretty antique furnishings, artwork by true local artists, Core Banks seashells scattered throughout, and if you look closely enough you will smile if you notice a few of the front rooms that aren't as ideally square as they were intended to be. In addition to the three bedrooms and two baths, you'll find a nice huge living room with two couches with cable TV and Internet. Cook in the kitchen if you like, you'll find everything you need. There's also a back porch for grilling and your own back yard with a modest fire-pit with plenty of oak to burn. There is plenty of parking.

How to find the best Beaufort vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the best rental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Gull Cottage in Historic Beaufort-by-the-Sea has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. message the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
