Our top Beaufort rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is high season in Beaufort. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 2023 townhome with private deck, seasonal pool access, & community dock has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.

- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
