Strategies for getting the perfect Beaufort vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. To find the best value, try changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Islands and Inlets - the best views on the Crystal Coast! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
