How to find the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Soundside Sunset-Gorgeous Soundfront Condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's an individual New Bern beach you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
