Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

When to book a New Bern rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Beaufort. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best rental in the New Bern area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Experience living on a Houseboat has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
