Rental home booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- To find the best value, shift your family's New Bern trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Emerald Isle Brand New Luxury Condo! Steps to Beach, Direct Beach Access! Pool! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
