Tricks and tips for getting the best New Bern rental home experience:
Get the best value:
- Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your New Bern rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. ????Emerald Isle 3bedroom House Sound Side???? has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
