Finding the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To get the best value, change your family's New Bern vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose yourrental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Dog-friendly coastal retreat with games, W\/D, & patio - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is right for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
