Tricks and tips to get the very best New Bern vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Darling Cottage Nestled In Our Garden! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
