Tricks and tips to get the best Beaufort rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental home:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Darling Cottage Nestled In Our Garden! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific New Bern attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
