About this Property

One of the few pet-friendly cottages in Beaufort! Come appreciate a comfortable one-bedroom bungalow with a big yard 2 blocks from the waterfront. Set back from the road this bungalow is unique in the heart of Beaufort. Ideal for a morning coffee on the porch and afternoon walk on the waterfront with your pup. Unwind with a board-game or puzzle and savor dinner on the screened in side porch. Connect to WiFi to work remotely or disconnect and enjoy Beaufort. Check us out on insta @thesouthernsaltydog!

My approach with this space is to keep it comfortable and dog-friendly while celebrating our coastal town of Beaufort. For the pups this means dog beds throughout the bungalow, a complimentary toy and treats upon arrival and baggies conveniently included for keeping the yard clean! For our guest this means a great room blending a comfortable couch, workspace and dining area lined with bookshelves supplied with puzzles, games, and all the gadgets to make a good martini (shaken not stirred). A handsome screened in porch provides outdoor dining or relaxation space. The king size bed with its fleece lined comforter and (many) pillows creates a space for a peaceful nights sleep.

I can accommodate up to four guests if needed with an air bed upon request. I can also provide two sizable kennels if needed for an additional $25 charge if needed. Note that at this time the yard is not fenced in as I am waiting on a contractor with availability and any pups need to be under voice or leash control at all times when outside for their and our neighbors safety.

Guest access to the home is supplied by a long grass drive way leads to the gravel parking spots by the potting shed. The eateries, museums and state park ferries are three blocks away on Front street. Morehead City is a ten min. drive across the bridge.

We do have a working fire place in the bungalow but instructions for use are supplied upon request and the guest accepts all liability for damage to the home if used incorrectly.

About the Area

Located in Beaufort, this cottage is on the waterfront. North Carolina Maritime Museum and Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Morehead City Yacht Basin and Town Creek Marina. Mount Maker Charters and North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores are also worth visiting.

Tips and Tricks to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best rental home:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy Dog-Friendly Cottage in Heart of Beaufort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
