How to get the best vacation rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the New Bern area. To find the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cottage Suite 194*** has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
