Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the New Bern area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Atlantic Beach:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. HOT DEAL! CAN'T STAY A WEEK, 3 NITE MIN! COZY COTTAGE! SHORT WALK TO BEACH! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
