Tips to get the best New Bern vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. HOT DEAL! CAN'T STAY A WEEK, 3 NITE MIN! COZY COTTAGE! SHORT WALK TO BEACH! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
