Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:
When to visit Beaufort & When to reserve a Beaufort rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Beaufort. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental in Beaufort:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Coastal home near the ocean with covered porches & W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.

- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
