Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply New Bern area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the right New Bern rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Blue Dolphin, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
