Booking the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful Emerald Isle Oceanfront 5 Bedroom Duplex: 'Changes In Attitudes' has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
