Strategies for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To get the best rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose the right New Bern vacation home:
- First, have your family choose dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Beautiful 1 Bedroom Suite at the Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
