New Bern vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply New Bern area travel guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best vacation rental in Emerald Isle:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautiful 1 Bedroom Suite at the Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
