Finding the best rental home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the New Bern area. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Beach Villa with Tropical Pool has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
