Tips for getting the best rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite New Bern restaurants and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 3 bedroom, 3 1\/2 bath townhome located poolside with ocean view\/access has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
