Our top Vacation rental tips:
Getting the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Atlantic Beach. Book your New Bern vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. A beautiful place W/ Ocean & Sound side view across street from Triple S Marina has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
