New Bern rental booking tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's New Bern vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right New Bern rental home:
- To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. A beautiful place W/ Ocean & Sound side view across street from Triple S Marina has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
