Emerald Isle rental home tips:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the New Bern area:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 2BR oceanside duplex, steps from beach, dog friendly at no add't fee has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual New Bern beach you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
