Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the New Bern area. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 2-story dog & snowbird-friendly home with sound views, balconies, deck, & W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
