Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local New Bern visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 2 Br 2 Bath Condo Oceanfront Resort 2 Pools & Water Slide has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual New Bern destination you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
