How to find the best New Bern vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental:

  • Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Where Isle Be, Oceanside Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
