Strategies to get the best New Bern rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick a perfectrental:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Welcome to your relaxing oceanfront retreat. Close to activities and eateries! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
