Tips to get the optimal New Bern vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your New Bern rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your New Bern rental home:
- Start by having your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Updated Home with Ocean View - with Private Pool and Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular New Bern attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
