Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

When to visit Indian Beach & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the New Bern area. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local New Bern area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. This bright and colorful \"beachy\" condo is perfect for those seeking the sun! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
