How to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply New Bern area visitor guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Stunning water views, walk to beach! 2 bed, 2 bath, condo on the Bogue sound. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
