Tips to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in the New Bern area. To book the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular New Bern attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking the right New Bern vacation home:

  • To start, have your group select date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Stunning water views, walk to beach! 2 bed, 2 bath, condo on the Bogue sound. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
