Getting the best New Bern vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Reserve your New Bern rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Soundview Lookout: 4BR, 3.5BA House near the beach in Emerald Isle has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our New Bern vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
