Strategies to get the optimal New Bern vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the New Bern area. Book your New Bern rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the New Bern area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local New Bern visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sound Of The Sea East 121, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific New Bern beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
