Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to visit Atlantic Beach & When to reserve a New Bern rental home:
- In the New Bern area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the New Bern area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean View - Spacious cottage with modern amenities has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain New Bern attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
