Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a New Bern vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the New Bern area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply New Bern area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find New Bern area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Queens Court 1204, Oceanfront Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
